OVERVIEW
The Senior IP Telephony Architect will work in a variety of complex SMB and enterprise environments including but not limited to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 4/5/6, Cisco Unity Unified Messaging (Exchange and Domino), Cisco Emergency Responder, Cisco IP Contact Center Express, Cisco Unified Operations and Provisioning Manager, Cisco Mobile Client (Orative), Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging, and Microsoft Office Communications Server.
The Senior IP Telephony Architect will oversee the design, architecture, implementation, security and support of varying environments (single-site to large multi-site, multi-vendor unified communications); lead client visioning for future system deployments, lead project teams, prepare scope documents and project plans, design and implement best practices for unified communications deployment to ensure client investment in technology is consistent with their business objectives and that proposed projects are executed successfully. The Senior IP Telephony Architect will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Unified Communications matters, including sales and RFP support, as well as mentoring, training and support of less senior Unified Communications Engineers.
This individual must possess strong interpersonal, business and technology skills that enable them to engage at the CxO and Director/Manager levels, as well as lead teams of consultants and clients. Ideal candidates will also be experienced in IT consulting with a holistic understanding of the IT operations within a business organization and be able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced sales and quality-based delivery model, work in a team-based environment and self manage.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, between both the client and all levels within the organization. Knowledge of sound business practices and a proven track record of exceeding client expectations and anticipating their needs are also required. Must be motivated with a focus on team performance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary of job responsibilities include the following:
- Researching and developing innovative solutions around unified communications
- Development of unified communications-based marketing solutions (white papers, case studies, etc.)
- Being involved in business development and pre-sales activities on unified communications-related activities
- Ensuring on-time and on-budget completion of project initiatives
- Lead and SME for unified communications-related initiatives
- Other duties may be assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent experience
- 5-10+ years of overall IT experience
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of consulting experience
- In-depth experience with multi-site, global IP telephony and unified communications rollouts/migrations
- Experience integrating/migrating legacy PBX infrastructure to unified communications
- Cisco routing and switching experience, including LAN/WAN/Security architecture
- Team and/or project leadership experience
- Experience with IPCC scripting a plus
- CCIE Voice or CCVP certification preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Expert knowledge in Cisco’s Unified Communications product portfolio
- Excels in the sale, planning, design, rollout and support for small to large enterprise unified communications initiatives (up to 20,000 endpoints)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills; must be comfortable speaking in front of audiences of different sizes; must be able to speak on both a business and technical level
- Strong customer interface skills to gather solution requirements and translate into hardware architecture and services proposals
- Strong leadership abilities and consultative skills to architect, design, and implement solutions
- Strong customer relationship skills
- Strong documentation skills (Excel, Visio, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
- Able to support the sales organization throughout the entire sales life-cycle related to customer solutions
- Able to deliver projects with minimal oversight and direction
- Able to obtain certifications as needed
- Able to travel up to 25% or as needed
